Ireland dreaming

Cruising along N59 in County Galway, we came across this beautiful view, just outside of the village of Letterfrack. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about Ireland. I really believe I could live there, at least for a few months out of the year. It’s really hard to put words to how magical this country is. Of course, America is absolutely amazing and offers endless beauty. And, though I may be a little biased, I think Michigan is second to non when it comes to our beaches and sunsets. But, there is just something about Ireland that I love.

I think it’s a combination of geography, history and culture. That sounds kind of cliche but it’s true. Plus, the people of Ireland are just amazing. By no means do I consider myself an expert on Ireland. I have only been there twice. But, I can say without a doubt that I will be there many more times. So far one of my favorite places is what the Irish call Connemara, a region located in County Galway.

In March Becky and I will be exhibiting our photographs from last May’s trip to Ireland at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts. I also plan on exhibiting my prints in Art Prize 2012 in Grand Rapids.

Whitney! Hart High School senior pictures

Windy and cold weather didn’t stop us from having a great time photographing Whitney’s senior pictures. We had a good time exploring western Michigan and finding some great spots. Whitney is planning on majoring in nursing after she graduates this spring. It’s been an honor to see this young woman grow up and we look forward to witnessing her do great things in her life!

Time for studio sessions; Ludington children’s photography

Our studio has been buzzing with families and children who have been getting their pictures taken in time for Christmas gifts. We still have some limited appointments available but are getting close to the Christmas deadline. We created this image of Amanda and Bob’s daughter last week.

The Vander Haag family; Ludington family pictures

Sunday was a great autumn day. The light was perfect, the temperatures were comfortable and Chris and Heather Vander Haag and their boys Jack and Cole were ready for a great family photograph session in their own backyard. I have to give a little disclosure here: Chris is my first cousin. Since we are only two years apart, we’ve known each other for quite awhile.

The boys (and mom and dad) did a great job getting their pictures taken and the setting was perfect!

Jessica – Ludington High School Class of 2013; Senior Photographer

The school year is almost halfway done and we are happily still photographing Class of 2012 high school seniors. But, we also wanted to take advantage of the fall weather to hold our first modeling session. Jessica is a junior at Ludington High School and will be representing Alway Photography this year. As our student model she will serve as a liaison between her classmates and us.  We got some great pictures of her during a recent visit to downtown Muskegon.
