Beach photography means Mother Nature is the boss – Ludington family photography

The Auer family of Arizona made their first ever visit to the Lake Michigan shoreline earlier this month. To commemorate their vacation they chose to invest in a family photograph on the Ludington beach. Mother Nature had other plans. The number one rule of outdoor photography is the weather is the boss. We arrived just before 8 p.m. with some very dark clouds in the northwest and sounds of thunder. The family quickly got into position and we managed to take a couple of pictures just before the rain came pouring down. Since the clouds were moving southeast, we decided to take the chance of heading south to the next beach, about 8 miles away. When we got there the rain had not yet arrived. We managed to get a couple of pictures at that location as well until the lighting conditions got too dark. We all had a great time though and hopefully gave the family some great memories.

Farm and Beach – Ludington senior pictures

Allie lives in Virginia but her family owns a farm near Scottville. Every year they visit the Ludington and Scottville area as often as they can so naturally it’s where she wanted her high school senior pictures taken. We started her senior picture day on the farm south of Scottville. We ended the day at the Ludington beach. Here are a few selections from her session.

Family Portraits, your style, your location – Ludington Pictures

Whether your family is comprised of three people or 18 people (or more), we have the experience to create a portrait that will last a lifetime. Because we are in such a beautiful location like Ludington, summer is typically the time for outdoor photography. Whether it’s your home or the beach, your picture will be a household treasure for years to come. We are also happy to travel to distances along the Lake Michigan shore such as Pentwater, Manistee, Silver Lake, Onekama, Grand Haven, Traverse City or Muskegon, to name a few.

Summer sessions are booking fast. We still have a limited amount of appointments for July. Call us at 231.757.3202 or email alwayphotography@gmail.com.

Alway Photography opens new studio in Ludington

We are pleased to announce that we will be opening a new studio at 416 S. James Street in Ludington. We are excited to move our business to downtown Ludington. We believe Ludington’s arts community has become a vibrant establishment and we are ready to jump into it as the only professional photography studio in downtown Ludington. We will have more information in the next couple of weeks. We are projecting an opening date of July 1. Look for some great specials coming soon!

This location is located in one of our favorite parts of town. It is right next to James Port Brewery, one of our favorite restaurants.

Manistee sunset

undefined I have to admit, my patience is wearing thin on the cold, rainy/snowy weather we are having in mid-April here in northwestern Michigan. In late March, I can accept it, but I am ready for 50- to 60-degree days. However, as a photographer I appreciate dramatic weather. Sunday’s high winds looked like there was a chance of some drama along Lake Michigan’s shoreline. So, I decided to head up to Manistee to check out what Lake Michigan was doing there. As sunset got closer, the clouds went away (photographers like clouds, they are our friends). I was with my friend/mentor Ron. We drove to First Street beach first and then to Fifth Avenue beach on the north side of Manistee. We almost didn’t get out of the car, because there was no drama. But, a few moments before sunset, we decided we’d give it a try anyway. I actually was pleased with the colors of this sunset which had the character of a summer sunset with a little wave action.
